RAHWAY – Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway Social Services Manager Victoria Brown, Plainfield, was named Social Work Leader of the Year by the New Jersey Chapter of the Society for Social Work Leadership in Health Care, an organization representing social workers in hospitals, hospices, and nursing homes. Ms. Brown received her award at the Society’s annual meeting October 29 at The Pines Manor in Edison.
The award not only recognizes excellence in social work in the health care setting, but also takes into account volunteer work, professional involvement and community outreach.
Manager of Social Services at the hospital since 1976, Ms. Brown is a board member of the Verona-based Mental Health Association in New Jersey. She has been active with that organization since 1980s.
Active in her professional organization, Ms. Brown is also a long-time volunteer at the Plainfield Area YMCA, where each month she cooks and serves meals to the area’s homeless. She also is a member of Central Jersey Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.
