Hospital Announces Excellence Award Winners
For Imediate Release
Rahway – Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway (RWJUH Rahway) recently named the winners of its annual Circle of Excellence Awards, the hospital’s highest award for patient care. Initiated in 1994 to recognize nursing, the award was expanded in 2007 to include clinical licensed and non-licensed caregivers who complete the patient care team.
Galloway Township resident Debra Ciuba, MSN, BC, RN, Psychiatric Emergency Services, received the award for registered nurse. Shilpa Nayee of Edison, Same-Day Surgery, received the award for nursing assistant. Rahway resident Paula Costello, Coronary Care Unit, won for unit secretary. Radiology Technologist Steven Reed, Woodbridge, received the award in the licensed clinical category and Rahway resident Elizabeth Panayotopoulos, a transporter in the Radiology Department, won in the clinical non-licensed category.
The hospital’s Patient Services Recruitment and Retention Committee developed the Circle of Excellence Award Program to acknowledge and encourage the development of excellent patient care, practice and professionalism.
“The Circle of Excellence Awards are presented to those who exemplify the full circle of clinical excellence," explained Arlene Tomchik, Chief Nursing Officer and Vice President for Patient Services. "We are proud to be awarding this distinctive honor to individuals who demonstrate extraordinary skill in their area of practice.”
The honorees are nominated by their peers in categories that include patient satisfaction, problem solving, leadership skills, attendance, committee involvement, continuing education, and mentoring.
