The New RWJ Rahway CareCenter

Garwood – Strep throats, sprained ankles and cut fingers don’t always occur during regular office hours, yet they don’t require a trip to the Emergency Room.

The newly opened RWJ Rahway CareCenter in Garwood was created to treat non-life-threatening illnesses and injuries seven days a week without an appointment.

With a lab and digital X-ray on site, the new RWJ Rahway CareCenter, located on South Avenue in the Kings shopping center, provides accessible care for the community at a cost well below that of an Emergency Department visit.

“Emergency Departments are good for life-threatening conditions. But not all illnesses or injuries require an ED visit,” said Kirk Tice, president Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. “The RWJ Rahway CareCenter provides walk-in medical care in a convenient, accessible location.”

Some of the conditions treated at the walk-in center include cuts, fractures, lacerations, animal bites, burns, colds, cough and sinus, ear and eye infections, allergic reactions, non-allergic rashes and skin irritations, urinary tract infections and gynecological issues. The center treats adults and children and accepts most insurance.

The new CareCenter has an occupational health component, providing prompt care and injury prevention for business and industry. Physicals for insurance, school and camp can be performed at the center, which is staffed by experienced physicians specializing in family practice and pediatrics.
