Communication For Those Caring For People
With Alzheimer’s Or Related Dementias
Scotch Plains – The Caregiver Support Group at RWJ Rahway Fitness & Wellness Center is hosting a special program on communication for those caring for people with Alzheimer’s or related dementias on Wednesday, June 1 at 6 pm at the RWJ Rahway Fitness & Wellness Center in Scotch Plains.
Caregivers will learn how to avoid unnecessary arguments and recognize the triggers that may result in aggressive or risky behaviors. They will also learn communication techniques to effectively respond to repetitive actions, recognition difficulties, and anxious or agitated feelings.
“Communication: Key to Understanding Behaviors and Changes in Our Loved Ones,” features Amy Matthews, Associate Director of Late-Stage Dementia Care, Education and Outreach for the Greater New Jersey Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. Ms. Matthews develops and implements education and outreach programs for 14 counties for the Alzheimer’s Association.
The program is free and open to all, but registration is required. To register, call 732-499-6118.
