Magnetic Resonance Imaging

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway has the industry’s most compact whole-body high-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system, the NT Intera R10 from Philips Medical Systems, to provide high performance imaging.
Designed with both patient and physician in mind, the system enhances patient comfort without compromising image quality and clinical performance.

“The Intera MR system provides exceptional image quality in the most patient-friendly environment. It is of tremendous diagnostic benefit to the community,” said Robert White, director of Clinical Services at RWJUH Rahway.

By combining high-field features with a design philosophy dedicated to patient comfort, the Intera system delivers new levels of operational productivity and better accommodates the needs of all patients, including those who suffer from claustrophobia.

The Department’s hours are also patient friendly, offering patients the option of weekday and Saturday appointments.

Using new magnet technology, the Intera eliminates the traditional compromise between magnet length and imaging performance. The result is the most compact whole body magnet available for various types of exams – including neuro, musculoskeletal, vascular and abdominal imaging. The Intera boasts the largest aperture of all the high field MRI systems in the industry.

Because of the level of detail it provides, MRI assists radiologists and physicians in the earlier diagnosis of a variety of medical conditions including brain and nervous system disorders, cardiovascular disease, cancer and organ disease. And, with RWJUH Rahway’s new scheduling system,we offer same day or next day appointments with results mailed to your physician the following day.

For an appointment, call (800) 981-9245.

The Radiology Department has 10 board-certified radiologists on staff and performs 70,000 tests per year and includes several specialty areas, including X-ray, PET/CT scan, MRI, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, mammography and bone density testing, as well as special procedures.
