Emergency Department

The renovated Emergency Department is now triple the size of the former Emergency Department, with 15,000-square feet of space and 23 patient bays.

The facility serves a variety of medical needs and includes treatment bays dedicated to cardiac, orthopedic, trauma, and pediatric emergencies. A double triage room and dedicated “Fast Track” area allow staff to process and treat patients in a significantly expedited manner.

In addition to patient-friendly amenities such as wireless bedside registration and complimentary televisions and telephones in each treatment bay, this comfortable setting also has amenities for waiting family members, such as television and a cafe area. The expanded space can accommodate 45,000 patients per year.

The ED can handle sports and athletic injuries in children and adults. Its staff is particularly adept at caring for our senior population. The ED has psychiatric RNs, Social Workers, as well as neurologists on call to coordinate the latest treatment in stroke care.

It has a special chest pain observation unit where staff can assess whether someone is having an acute coronary syndrome.

The Emergency Department is staffed by board certified/board eligible emergency physicians, who are all members of Emergency Medical Associates (EMA), one of the country’s premier emergency physician groups (www.ema-ed.com), which is well recognized for having thought leaders in all facets of emergency medicine, both on a regional and national basis.

The ED’s medical director is Dr. Michael Bernstein and the Nurse Manager is Eric Kleinert, RN.

The Emergency Department can be reached by calling (732) 680-7911.
