The Diabetes Self-Management Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway is Nationally Recognized by the American Diabetes Association (ADA). The core team of diabetes educators who coordinate and run the program are Angela Bacqué, MPA, R.Ph., CDE – Diabetes Program Coordinator; Gary Paul, MS, CDE; Susan Heffernan, BSN, RN, CDE; Stephanie Madeira, RD, CDE; Paula Rovinsky, BSN, RN,
and Lauren Bernstein, MS, RD, CDE.
There are many benefits to receiving National Recognition by the ADA. It ensures patients and the community that our diabetes education program meets the rigorous National Standards for Diabetes Self-Management Education Programs and is approved by the diabetes community nationwide.
"National Recognition by the American Diabetes Association provides potential patients with a means of identifying outstanding education programs that meet the National Standards," says Angela Bacque, registered pharmacist and coordinator of the Diabetes Self Management Center at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Rahway. "Recognized programs are primary referral sites for American Diabetes Association regional offices to refer people with diabetes for education."
In addition, recognition provides independent quality assurance for insurers and enables them to readily identify quality services for reimbursement purposes.
