Scotch Plains – A special program on stroke for the South Asian community will be held on February 9 at 11 am at the RWJ Rahway Fitness & Wellness Center.
Stroke is the third leading killer in the United States. People of South Asian descent may be especially vulnerable to stroke at younger ages, according to European studies. Risk factors for stroke include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.

The program will be followed by a healthy cooking demonstration of South Asian food led by Registered Dietitian Diane Weeks. The program will take place in English and Hindi. Registration is required by calling 732-499-6193. The center is located at 2120 Lamberts Mill Road, Scotch Plains. The program is free and lunch will be provided.
