Fitness Center Breast Cancer
Programs Highlight Advances and Empowerment
Scotch Plains – In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, two special programs on breast cancer will be held at the RWJ Rahway Fitness & Wellness Center in Scotch Plains.
The first program is Breast Cancer: Advances, Empowerment & Prevention and takes place on Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at 6:30 pm. Featured speakers include hematologist-oncologist Anise Kachadourian, MD who will give an update on the genetic research in breast cancer BRAC1/BRAC2 genes. After a buffet dinner and chair massages, three-time cancer survivor Monica Knoll will speak about successfully managing breast cancer. The evening also features holistic nurse and massage therapist Cheryl Chapman who will discuss the benefits of massage as a preventive tool. This program also includes vendors and music. Pre-registration is required for this free event which is open to the community.

The second program looks at Surgical Options and Treatment for Breast Cancer. That program is Monday, October 19, 2009 at 1:30 pm and features surgeon James Frost, MD. Learn about the latest, most effective treatment modalities based on the research.
