At Your Dining Requests

Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Rahway has a room service-style meal system. Patients may call ext. 6325 to order their meals. A menu with a variety of selections is located on each bedside table or in the folder slots on the wall. Meals will typically take 45 minutes to arrive after a call has been placed.

A representative will visit each patient upon arrival to review ordering procedures and address any food service needs.

Meals may be ordered any time between 7 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Suggested Ordering Schedule
Breakfast: 7 - 8:30 a.m.
Lunch: 11:30 a.m. - 1 p.m.
Dinner: 4:30 – 6 p.m.
If you are on a therapeutic diet your selections will be limited to the foods your diet allows. The Nutrition Services operator will advise you of your menu restrictions. Every effort will be made to conform to your culinary preferences. Contact a dietitian with any questions or problems concerning your diet. Dietitians will provide nutrition counseling on therapeutic diets.

Guest trays are available at a nominal charge by calling ext. 6325. Visitors may also eat in the cafeteria on the first floor. Cafeteria hours are 6:30 a.m. – 7 p.m.
If you need to contact the Food Service Department during your stay, you may call ext. 6325 (MEAL).

Kosher Food Handling
RWJ Rahway does not keep a kosher kitchen for food preparation and handling, and only assumes responsibility for heating and serving frozen kosher meals intact. RWJ Rahway does not accept responsibility for any other items placed on the food service tray. Patients assume the responsibility of assuring that the tray items meet their religious standards of kosher.
